So I need to connect to the internet in my new appartment and they gave me this piece of paper that says %26quot;Please put the following IP addresses into your network configuration%26quot; Then it gives me things like

Gateway: 80.150.19.1
Net mask: 255.255.254.0
Name Server: 194.25.1.70
Box number: 30

You should have not inserted your IP on here, but what you have here is a static ip, you will have to go into network connections and insert this into your Network card.

I think prophet got it there, you are getting the MAC and IP mixed up. A MAC address is like a serial number or a car's VIN number, it does not change. But the IP address will probably change, it is not 'rubber stamped' on anything, it is given to you by either your router or your ISP. One computer won't connect to the internet.?
We have four here and only one isn't working. When I try to connect it says that the server is not connected. Everything looks connect to us (we're at work). We pulled up an Advanced System Information Error Log and it says the following: The server could not bind to the transport \Device\NwInkIpx because another computer on the network has the same name. I just purchased a new computer running Windows XP Professional and I wanted to hook it up to my old computer (running XP Home) to transfer my files. We already had a (non-wireless) router set up in the house, so I hooked both computers to it and ran the Windows 'home network setup' wizard. When it finished, the new computer could see the old one, but didn't have permission to access it. The old one couldn't see the new one at all. How do I remove a wireless network from my Netgear router?
What I've done is apparently set up a new network. In reconnecting my router (gone for the summer), I went to the http://192.168.1.1 website and was working with the settings to configure the router and to try to get the blasted thing to work (turns out I needed to restart the modem). Well, I changed the name from %26quot;Netgear%26quot; to %26quot;Ed%26quot; as the help box recommends, verified it was secure, and got on the network. But now when I open my wireless network connection utility thing, both %26quot;Ed%26quot; and %26quot;Netgear%26quot; show up as an available network. Although I automatically connect to %26quot;Ed%26quot; and it is secured, the %26quot;Netgear%26quot; option shows no security. I'd like to delete this so my system is more secure, but I'd also take suggestions on how to enable security. I just don't want to have to do a router reset and start all over. How do i change my router from secure to open?
my comp said it was having a problem with the profile and suggested deleting that one and creating a new one. so i deleted and tried to create a new profile and got to the first password, a device ownership password. i don't remember putting one in in the first place but where it says to look on the router to find it i couldn't find one. i tried like 7 or 8 0's and that got me through. it then asked for network name and security type which both were set. it also asked for the password (key) which i tried putting in and it wouldn't accept. i've gotten fed up and decided to try changing the security type on my router to open. how do i go about doing this on a d-link router ???How do i change my router from secure to open?
The easiest way to fix this problem is by just resetting the router and recreating your network. Push in the reset button on the router and hold it. This will erase all settings and it will be as it was when it came out of the box. Set up new network without encryption and you are ready to go. Good luck!!!

Locked out of my computer....please help?
We were given a computer. It had a password. My son went in and change the user name from administrator to something with spaces and an %26amp;, a total of 17 characters. He said he didn't change the password. He said he changed the domain, network, and computer name also, for that user name (which used to be administrator). How can I fix this? We are locked out of the computer.
Also, when we press F8 when booting up the computer, safe mode is NOT an option.

I have a Motorola sbg900 and im really not sure how to add a passscode so not just anyone can use my internet....
this is the installation guide I found on the net and im still not sure how to do it????
I was able to change the name of the network from motorola, just not sure about the pass code...

I have a Sony Vaio laptop and a Belkin wireless, I also have Windows 7. It used to connect fine and I could use wireless all around my house. Then I tried to change the name of my network and it stopped working, so then I immediately changed it back to it's exact original name but it still will not connect. I KNOW that it has nothing to do with my actual internet, if I plug in the cable into the back of my laptop it connects fine but I don't want to have to sit on my kitchen floor to use my own internet lol

Set up wifi router on school network?
I am trying to setup a wireless router Linksys wifi N series in my apartment but iim having some problems. I know you can do it because alot of people have them set up, being that they wont tell me how to do it i need to look else where, im fairly good with networking but still haveing problems, it gives me a limited or no connectivity error hardwired through the router. I have a home network with 3 XP Pro computers. One has no monitor and is only accessible via IP address using RealVNC. The IP address recently changed, and for some reason it doesn't show up on my router's DHCP table. I can browse to the computer via 'my network' and I can print to the attached printer. If you know the host name for the computer, you can ping the host name directly which resolves the IP address to the Dynamic DNS tables in your XP configuration.
You would do this from the command prompt:

Once you type in the ping command and the IP address is resolved, the output from the command should look something like this example:

If you know the host name for the computer, you can ping the host name directly which resolves the IP address to the Dynamic DNS tables in your XP configuration.
You would do this from the command prompt:
Start %26gt; Run %26gt; cmd
for a host name of %26quot;laptop%26quot; you would simply type:
ping laptop
Once you type in the ping command and the IP address is resolved, the output from the command should look something like this example:
Pinging laptop [192.168.0.102] with 32 bytes of data:
The IP address for the host would be in the brackets. This will take the guess work out of it as opposed to pinging a range of IP addresses.
Also, provided Dynamic DNS is working properly, you may be able to enter the host name into the Connect prompt in RealVNC. I use WinVNC so I'm not familiar with the RealVNC interface, but try it out and see if that works. It does work using the host name in WinVNC. I am not very technology-oriented, so please excuse my lack of knowledge reguarding certain terms and names for things, ect.
I have been having a lot of problems with my DVR lately, but it's finally been fixed. However, in order to fix it, the TV in my bedroom had to be set as TV 1 instead of TV 2, the TV in my living room had to become TV 2 when it had previously been 1 on my DVR box.
I want to set all of my previous timers to record on TV 1 as a default now, but I don't know if this is possible. So my question is:

If not then press the tv button down again until all lights light up then do the next code keep continuing until the tv turns off.

We have several networked computers in the house which connect wirelessly through the router. I need to switch out the desktop (1) with a newer one. If I just re-run the router installation program on the new computer will I be able to retain the same encryption key and network name etc or do I need to start again from scratch? Tickets are non-trasnferable and discount tickets are non-refundable. Especially if you went through a 3rd party website you have no out. That person is obligated to use that ticket or you will lose the cost of the fare. You have no out you have no recourse. That person flies or you lose the money. It is all outlined in the terms and conditions when you purchased the ticket. Fixing a name that is misspelled is easy, no problem. But you can not for any reason change the name. The ONLY out you would have would be IF you purchased directly with the airline. You could use the value of the ticket to purchase another one but you would be subject to paying change fee's and the difference of the available fare. When you talk International you are talking upward of several hundred $$$$.
So...your friend needs to go. Plain and simple...otherwise you will lose the fare, you will have to pay much much much more IF The website will do the change. Most discount travel sites are traps for uneducated travelers and you have no other choice but to either fly or lose your money. If you went through a 3rd party website or what is called a bulk consolidator, the airline will not touch that ticket. For one, that website blocks the fare break down so they can not see it to re-issue or exchange it. Secondly that is part of what they do, you buy a fare %26quot;Cheap%26quot; enough, you can ONLY deal with that website. It is ALWAYS recommended to book directly with the airline itself. If you have issues you can deal with them and not worry about 3rd party rules or travel agents who add their own fee's ontop of what the airline regulates. This looks like two V class tickets. The cheapest Air France ticket London to SXM carries, according to my Sabre fare display, a 拢75 cancellation charge. Right, so you will have to accept that at best, this will cost 拢75 to change the name (because you will have to cancel the old booking and then rebook the new one). You will now need to get this done sooner rather than later in case all the V class seats get taken. You may have to pay an extra fee to the airline network. As I said, accept it and get the change done now. Airline network should, if they are decent types, at least let you offset the cost of one against the other but I have a horrible feeling that they are too impersonal to do this. Next time, use a travel agent. the fares are the same and it is much easier in cases like this to deal with a local person, face to face.

Tickets are non-trasnferable and discount tickets are non-refundable. Especially if you went through a 3rd party website you have no out. That person is obligated to use that ticket or you will lose the cost of the fare. You have no out you have no recourse. That person flies or you lose the money. It is all outlined in the terms and conditions when you purchased the ticket. Fixing a name that is misspelled is easy, no problem. But you can not for any reason change the name. The ONLY out you would have would be IF you purchased directly with the airline. You could use the value of the ticket to purchase another one but you would be subject to paying change fee's and the difference of the available fare. When you talk International you are talking upward of several hundred $$$$.
So...your friend needs to go. Plain and simple...otherwise you will lose the fare, you will have to pay much much much more IF The website will do the change. Most discount travel sites are traps for uneducated travelers and you have no other choice but to either fly or lose your money. I hope your friend will just give you the money that you spent on the ticket. If there is someone else they are better off just buying a ticket out right instead of dealing with the change fee's

If you went through a 3rd party website or what is called a bulk consolidator, the airline will not touch that ticket. For one, that website blocks the fare break down so they can not see it to re-issue or exchange it. Secondly that is part of what they do, you buy a fare %26quot;Cheap%26quot; enough, you can ONLY deal with that website. It is ALWAYS recommended to book directly with the airline itself. If you have issues you can deal with them and not worry about 3rd party rules or travel agents who add their own fee's ontop of what the airline regulates. Computer Name+ port forwarding confusion?
There are three connections from me to my gateway. First is the stock wireless network adapter, then is the bluetooth network adapter, the lastly is the LAN connection. I use the LAN connection. When I port forward, three computers show up in the %26quot;select a computer%26quot; drop down box. They are all listed the same as my name. I do not want to port forward three times, so I need to know how to change the name of my LAN connection so that I can find the correct PC on the drop-down box.Computer Name+ port forwarding confusion?

I live with a family and they let me share their wireless network but i get a weak signal! What can I do to make it stronger? If u suggesting to install a machine then please name it.

It's a little device where you plug in an outlet, when the signal from your wireless router hit the wireless repeater, it takes the signal and strengthen it and continuing spreading the signal around.

Belkin Router, please help!?
Was able to log into my grandmothers wireless network by entering her Belkin Router pin . Now, it will not let her connect to it. It has completely re-named her connection to that of my pc, which is Heather-PC. It prompts for a passphrase as well, I try to enter her pin (which is what I used to log-in, originally) However, it says this is correct. I just reset my router so everything should be at original settings. I had configured my router with a unique SSID and password only recently. Everything was fine until the SSID stopped broadcasting. In any case, instead of just messing with everything, I reset. It seems now the original SSID is broadcasting as Linksys. However, for some reason I can't get onto the network to change the settings. I'm going to the IP and being asked for a name and password. It should be the default password (admin). I try it repeatedly and can't get on. I'm assuming that its because i might not be on my network but someone else's who has a different password.

When you reset the newer model Linksys routers they will only let you log into the management side of it if you are directly connected by hardwired. This will also make sure you are on the right network until you configure everything the way you want it.

How to block or black list a certain network/IP?
I live in a trailer park and a few months back, a few new neighbors moved in to several of the other trailers. Ever since then my internet has been a load of bull. My computer likes to connect to their network instead of mine (and because I don't know which neighbor, I don't feel like knocking on peoples doors). When it's connected to their network, my computer won't connect to the internet. Oh, not APC as in the power units.. What you did was you changed your computer to be a member of a Domain, instead of a workgroup. You should have a drop down box that says either the domain or local administrator. You need to go through the local administrator, then change it back to a workgroup.
