Changing Computer on Home Network?

I have a desktop computer (1) which has a cable internet connection and is also connected to a wireless router. We have several networked computers in the house which connect wirelessly through the router. I need to switch out the desktop (1) with a newer one. If I just re-run the router installation program on the new computer will I be able to retain the same encryption key and network name etc or do I need to start again from scratch? If so, how do I %26quot;delete%26quot; the old network from all the computers? All computers are running Windows XP.Changing Computer on Home Network?
You should be fine, the router will still have the same IP address, should be able to just plug in your new computer and shoot off to the races. Have fun!Changing Computer on Home Network?
You should be able to add the computer as a %26quot;new%26quot; member without too much trouble. The same key should work on the new one as it did on the old one if you take pains to preserve that key first. Starting from scratch on that one machine is probably a good idea to be sure you don't short-cut yourself into oblivion.Changing Computer on Home Network?
You do not need to re-run the router setup as the router is not changing... Before you disconnect the old 1, open the Network settings and copy any special settings you might have for that computer. If you have a cable that runs from the router to this computer, it should be easy. If it connects wirelessly to the router, write down any wireless encryption keys. When you install the new computer, enter the data in the network settings.
