I have a linksy laptop card and my aunt has a linksy router. I think I did something wrong?
when i was trying to connect to the writer it told me to hold down a button that says linksy and hold it down for ten seconds i did that and it changed her network name and everything how can i change it back before she even knows i need helpI have a linksy laptop card and my aunt has a linksy router. I think I did something wrong?
Several points here.
First, I don't suggest trying to %26quot;fix it before she knows it ever happened%26quot;. You sound like you made a mistake that is understandable and honest. Your aunt should respect you more for owning up to a mistake than trying to hide it. If she's network savvy and you get it to work but it's not right she will know. It's always better to admit mistakes and than try to fix them before someone notices. Even if you do get it fixed you should tell her what happened.
Now, you probably need to know the provider of your internet. It's probably cable or DSL. Any of them will have a tech support number that will be able to help you. The one problem is they may not help you because it isn't your house or account. Defer to admitting and doing what you can to fix it once your aunt gets home.
If you have the software for the Linksys router there is a network wizard on the CD that may be able to detect everything and get the network back up and running. You can try that also.
Most importantly understand you didn't do this on purpose and it is not a destructive mistake. It can be fixed. Maybe not right away but all you did was clear the settings. Once it's all set back up everything will work ok. In the future make sure you read instructions completely as many times as you need to to make sure you understand what you are doing. If you have any questions or don't have confidence, especially in the event you are working with someone elses equipment, wait for the owner, call tech support first, but make sure you know what every step you take does.
Also, this is not a scolding. It's to help you follow better steps next time. Good luck!I have a linksy laptop card and my aunt has a linksy router. I think I did something wrong?
Hopefull there is a backup of the configuration settings. It will be a filename with a .cfg. Try to go into the router configuration screen, select backup/restore, then click restore, hopefully it will point to the last backup. good luck.I have a linksy laptop card and my aunt has a linksy router. sound to me like you have reset the router to is default
there is no way to change it back.
you will have to reconfiger the router (you will have to know all the setting that she setup on the router before)I have a linksy laptop card and my aunt has a linksy router. I think I did something wrong?
You have now wiped out all her settings. You now need to set up EVERYTHING again, form the ISP user name and password, through the channel, SSID to the encryption key. Always read the manual properly and thouroughly before you start.

How do I setup my router?
I have router which I used before, now I got a new intenenet service. How do I set it up? I am trying to put a password so no one else can enter my network.
this is what I did:
I connected my router to the ethernet cable, then I connected my computer to the intenet I was getting from my router (wirelessly). then I wen on 192.168.1.1 and i changed the password and network name. the networked name changed, but there is no password yet. I mean when i try to connect to the wireless network it does not prompt for password and it says unsecured network. please Help!!How do I setup my router?
Call the company. They will help you.How do I setup my router?
Well depending on your model of router it varies. But if I was going to set up a router I would hook the router directly to the computer via ethernet cable then open your browser (Firefox, Internet Explorer, Safari..) and type: 10.0.0.1 into the address bar and then hit %26quot;go%26quot; or the %26quot;return key%26quot; and it should take you to the router's set up page! it may prompt you for a user name and password, on our router it's Name:%26quot;admin%26quot; Password: %26quot;admin%26quot; or on some it's %26quot;1234%26quot; just mess around and google it if you can't figure that part out. Then just go to the security settings and put in the password of your choice.
I hope this helps :-)How do I setup my router?

How do you retrieve a forgotten password on a computer? Like on a network?
We need to change the name of folders and delete some, but need the network password, and it's with the old computer guy who's nowhere to be found....anybody know how to do it??How do you retrieve a forgotten password on a computer? Like on a network?
An admin can change the password via Active Directory where the account is created and managed.
Start %26gt; Run %26gt; MMC (enter) %26gt; File Add/Remove Snap In %26gt; Add %26gt; Users and Computers
Once the console loads the domain controller, right-click and choose find. Look him up by user name to name. Then right-click, change password. You may need to allow 15 minutes for the password to become effective (replicate)Decorate a duvet cover anyone been unemployed

My downstairs tenant is using my wireless connection (he knows my ssid and password), can he hack my network?
My downstairs tenant knows my ssid (wireless network name) and password, is there any way he can somehow get into my network and see what i'm doing? if so, how tecy savvy does one need to be to do this? and how would he go about this? If it's possible, i'm just going to tell him that my internet connection is slow, due to too much bandwith being used and i'll just change my wireless name and password. PLEASE HELP?
unfortunately, my brother gave him my wireless name and password because he needs the internet. Oh and by the way I do have SSID broadcast turned off.
if i change it hes gona be like why did you change it i need it ...besides hes gona say hes paying and blah blahMy downstairs tenant is using my wireless connection (he knows my ssid and password), can he hack my network?
Yes it is definitely possible. I do not know for sure how but I have read tech news saying incidents like that have happened.
The best way to prevent him from hacking into your computer is to block file sharing/ wireless printing/ screen sharing/ home network.
Air Port Express is an Apple product that is a router. Air Port express has this feature where you can create a public network and a secured network. That will make it hard for him to hack your computer if you are connected on a secure network and he is connected on a public network. If you don檛 want to spend the money on paying for a new router it may be possible to create a public network and secure network using the router you have now but you will need to do research on that.My downstairs tenant is using my wireless connection (he knows my ssid and password), can he hack my network?
Just make sure that any shared files are only what you want or don't mind him seeing.
You can make a file private without him ever needing to know.
In the network controll pannel make sure that all the files you don't want ANYONE looking in are set to private.
He can still hack into these files if he wants, but he'd have to really work for it. and then you'd have a reaosn to change to internet passowrd wouldn't you?
Hope this helpsMy downstairs tenant is using my wireless connection (he knows my ssid and password), can he hack my network?
The answer is, yes, if he is on your wireless network, he has access to your computer. He doesn't need to be tech savvy. He just needs to know how to do a google search to get the tools he needs.

Best bet is to change it. I'm sure his rental agreement does not say he is entitled to internet access. do you also give him free access to your telephone, does he have free access to your car? He may grumble, but you need to let him know that are not an ISP.

How do I change my SSID for my wireless network?
I've been trying to get internet on my itouch but every time i adjust my wireless settings on my laptop, i get internet on my itouch but i can't connect my laptop to the internet.
Anyway, i ended up resetting my router a couple times because i couldn't remember my password. And now my network is a little messed. My wireless networks SSID is d-link which is the name of my router (my router is dlink 1310). when i tried changing the SSID to the name of my wireless network, it reboots itself but then says ''the settings saved on this computer do not match the settings of the network'' or something of the sort and won't let me connect to the network.
Also with my router password every time i try to change the user name from admin to another name, it never does it just stays admin which is really annoying! well if anyone can help me with any of this that would be really great because i'm an idiot! %26gt;_%26lt;How do I change my SSID for my wireless network?
You can just leave the SSID as D-Link, won't hurt a thing...you definitely want to set your own password though. When you do this are you clicking on %26quot;apply%26quot;?
Your itouch and your laptop will recognize whatever SSID you have your router set to.
Now, in your WEP settings in your router, make sure you have the encryption set to 128bit and write down the key...it will be very long (forget how many characters). When your laptop does a scan, it should find your router. Select (highlight) it and then click connect. When the window comes up for the security key, enter the key you wrote down when you set up your router. The itouch should be somewhat similar.
I hope this helps...it's hard to fully describe this type of thing in a few words, or without having the devices here in front of me.
Good luckHow do I change my SSID for my wireless network?
http://192.168.0.1 usually is your hub, also you cant name two networks on the same connection the same, you can name your computers network connection the same as other computers on the network. Also if you resetted your modem it will revert it back to the admin account as for it not saving changes, it could be a battery issue, and your box is no longer recharging it. make sure you dont have any conflicting ips anywhere on the network, ie make sure all your net cards have different ips than the box and each other, that will screw up stuff. Best of what i can come up with.
