Assuming you have Windows XP, right-click on My Computer. Go to the Computer Name tab. Click on the Change button, which will allow you to change your computer name. Give it another name and click OK. This should fix your issue!

There is the possibility that your computer has a conflicting IP address with another computer. Or your computer name is the same as someone elses. It sounds as if you are connecting to a wireless network. That just happens sometimes if this is the case.
